Great Minds . . .

. . .  run in the same channel, as the old saying has it.  You will recall that, last week, I pointed out that Demon Rum is being held responsible for all kinds of lapses on the part of politicos.  Turns out that Jon Stewart, on the Daily Show, said the same thing, in these words:

"This weekend Ohio Republican Bob Ney pled guilty to Abramoff-related bribery and corruption charges. . . says he has a drinking problem. If you're keeping score at home, that now makes alcohol responsible for corruption, anti-Semitism, and homosexual pedophilia."

The Massachusetts Governor

Mr. Romney has spoken up in the gubernatorial race between his Lieutenant Governor Kerry Healey and Democrat Deval Patrick.  Since the legislature - which charmingly perpetuates the Puritan moniker “the Great and General Court” - is dominated by Democrats, Romney says, it is important to elect another Republican as his successor.  Why, I’m not sure.  He has obviously been mostly absentee, using the position as a stepping stone to the White House.  On tour, he pokes fun at the Bay State, of which he - allegedly - is leader.

And, it has been revealed that he has been in conference with the leadership of his Mormon church re his run for the presidency.

Incidentally, I have been advising you folks that he prefers the nickname “Mitt” to his real given name “Wilfred.”  I have been corrected by a Boston Globe columnist, who pointed out that it is “Willard.”
