National Amnesia

Ernest Cassara

The latest dustup of the Bush administration is with Iran.  Dubya is threatening the ancient Persian nation for its alleged interference in Iraq. Yes siree!  Who are the Persians to be concerned with what is happening to their neighbor?  Did you see on TV, on 25 October, Secretary C. Rice threatening Iran?

Unfortunately, we Americans suffer from national amnesia.  I won’t repeat what I have written before.  From the overthrowing of the duly elected prime minister Dr. Mohammad Mossadegh by the U.S. in 1953, to constant interference in their affairs, is it any wonder that Iranians do not look kindly on the U.S. government?.

I believe you will find the following website quite instructive. It includes an interview of Congressman Jim Moran by the editor of Tikkun, Rabbi Michael Lerner.
