A Lexicon for the 21st Century

Corner: Portion of home plate which extends about four inches beyond itself.

Cornish Hen: A tiny chicken which caters to the perverse desire to be served an entire bird for ones personal consumption.

Corollary: A bad argument that someone is attempting to link to a good argument.

Corporate Veil:  Instrument for legalizing murder.

Corruption: A falling off from first principles which have been ridiculed by fashion for so long no living person can remember when they were fresh; thus it can be cured only by rediscovery.

Cosmic: Synonym for "important" among writers obsessed by the grandeur of their own themes.

Cosmotheism: Religious philosophy devised by William Pierce which is so fixated on race it has caused God to wonder if he was wise to make more than one.

Counsel: Advice reputed to rise above the wisdom of gossip but, too often, doesn't.

Countenance: Synonym for "face" in romantic novels--usually in play when the heroine sights the hero across the Pump Room or some other fashionable place.

Country Club: An institution which exists for golf, tennis, drinking, and exclusion.

Courtesy: The solvent that allows ideas to mix and fertilize one another.

Courtship: A period when people disguise themselves against the knowledge of those with whom they design to share their greatest intimacies.

Couture: An activity too silly to be done anywhere other than Paris.
