HARVARD SQUARE COMMENTARY

This is going to be brief today because I'm away from home, because I've got to rush off to my daughter's apartment in Washington to help her make some decisions about her kitchen, and because yesterday I spent too many hours getting ready for and watching the Super Bowl.

I was sad to see the Patriots lose. When they scored late in the game to go ahead, I felt confident Brady and company had pulled out yet one more improbable victory. But the Giant drive, with only two minutes left featured some of the most fantastic plays I've ever seen. The football gods were with the Giants yesterday. Fickle as those deities are, they had decided to desert the Patriots. And we Patriot fans have to face the truth -- the Giants played better.

I will be off tomorrow for Florida, to meet my other daughter with her babies at the Orlando airport and spend some time in the warmth. I'll report to you about how things are there from the Java Café in Wauchula, which I do recommend to all of you -- in case you should ever be in Wauchula.
