The Palin Ploy

Ernest Cassara

With all the hullabaloo over Sarah Palin, the attention has been taken away from where it belongs: on John Sidney McCain.

I’ll get to him in a moment.  First Mrs. Palin.  I have been in Wasilla, of which she was mayor before succeeding in her run for the governorship of Alaska.  Not much of a town, although, in various visits there over the years, I marveled that Carr’s grocery store could have such a collection of stuff that had come from the lower Forty-Eight, presumably by barge, plane, or, conceivably, through the Yukon by truck.

Saturday Night Live captured the essence of Mrs. Palin’s experience in foreign affairs, when look-alike Tina Fey remarked that she could see Russia from her window!  Incidentally, Mr. Palin was connected with the Alaska Independence Party, which, as its name says, it believes that it should detach itself from the U.S.A.  Sounds like treason to me!

Apparently, Senator McCain only met Mrs. Palin briefly on a couple of occasions.  And, given his reputation as a philanderer, he was probably impressed with her t. and a.!  Lest I be accused of maligning the Senator, allow me to remind you that when his wife was badly injured in an automobile accident, McCain dumped her and his children for one of his paramours – his present wife – who just happened to be rich from an outfit that bottles beer.  I pity that present wife, who must stand behind him, smiling, at each of his appearances on the stump.  At least, Mrs. Michelle Obama, when she is not tending to their daughters, has the ability to make a good speech on her own.

Palin, in my opinion, is a proto fascist.  She tried to remove books she did not approve of from the library in Wasilla.  When the librarian would not go along with her censorship, she attempted to remove the librarian.

Palin makes outrageous charges against Senator Obama, among them being that he hangs out with terrorists.  The person in question is William Ayers, who is a Professor of Education at the University of Chicago.  When Obama was eight years old, Ayers was involved in plans to bomb the Pentagon.  Obviously nothing came of it.  But, it is Palin’s job to smear Obama, so McCain can keep his hands clean.

If you observed closely McCain’s eyes in their recent debate, it is clear that he looks down on Obama.  No doubt thinking that it is beneath him to have to be on the same stage with a person of mixed race.

McCain is notorious for his temper.  It would be very dangerous to put him in charge of the military.  He has a strange sense of humor, when his sings a song about bombing Iran!
