A Lexicon for the 21st Century

Maryland: The place the devil chose to establish the capital of depravity.

Masculinity: The death instinct according to theorists who associated with Bloomsbury types perhaps more than was good for them.

Mask: A garment donned to ease restraint--even in the presence of those who saw it being put on.

Masquerade: The only character in which the rich see those about them.

Massacre: Mass killing by people with inept PR backup.

Mathematician: A person not generally known for his wit.

Mathematics: A system of relationships which theorists are constantly trying to set up as the proper regulator of human affairs but which, so far, hasn’t worked in that respect.

Matrimony: A synonym for marriage which is brought into use when the financial aspects of a match are to be discussed.

Maturity: A cool knowledge which has grasped the equality of silliness in the charges the sexes bring against one another.

Meat: Murder, according to a message frequently spray-painted on dumpsters and alley walls; it may have a brighter future than many imagine

Mechanism: Any intricate system whose object is evil.

Media: That which induces delusion.
